A frustrating type of ~self care~ post I see says something along the lines of "don't give in to pathological altruism for X period of time, but not to be selfish! For some other vague, undefined reason."

Just once, I want to barge in and say "do it to be selfish! Stop trying to live a contradiction!"

But I don't, because I know it wouldn't accomplish anything.
