Transhumanism
Jan. 30th, 2020 06:41 pmRecent events have really reinforced my opposition, not specifically to having a wetware body, but primarily to living in an ecosystem. We really shouldn't be happy about sentient beings being subject to random lethal attack from structurally nonsentient organisms. I realize that that's never going to gain traction, but seeing the fatality numbers go up really reiterates to me how dangerous being a human is, even if the 21st Century has been safer than all the previous ones from most of the world. Hell, we can't even get grown adults to wash their hands properly—I personally witness some completely oblivious to the concept probably once a week. I can't imaging wearing face masks catching on in America, let alone transhumanism.
I'm not sure what my ideal post-human conception is, but it's certainly not this. Hopefully this outbreak gets under control soon and a minimum number of additional victims die. The trends haven't been good so far, though, and that's just the confirmed case number. The reality of the situation is almost certainly much worse.
